After overnight at Phakding, you will start the hike to Namche Bazar from Phakding. The fantastic scenic walk of the day takes you to Namche Bazar. Walking on the shore of Dudh Koshi river and several suspension bridges never tires you all day.

The small yet beautiful town in the inclined arch-shaped hill, Namche, is a hub for tourism in the Himalayas. It is also the first acclimatization point for trekkers hiking to the Everest Base Camp.

For acclimatization, you'll get enormous choices at Namche. You can visit some monasteries in Khumjung. Other trekkers prefer hiking to the Everest View Hotel. To soothe yourself, you can grab some cups of aromatic cappuccino at hotels in Namche.

To make your return convenient, you'll get a helicopter flight from Gorak Shep. On returning, the aerial prospect of Nuptse, Pumori, and Lhotse makes the outing cracking. The helicopter takes you to Lukla. The panoramic flight to Kathmandu marks the end of the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour.

Difficulty Level of Everest Base Camp trek and helicopter return

Everest Base Camp trek is a moderate grade trek in the Khumbu region. What stands out from this trek compared to the rest of the treks to EBC is that you won’t hike back to Lukla. The helicopter flight from Kala Patthar to Lukla makes your return effortless.

The flat terrain and the steepness of the slope define the difficulty of a particular trek day. The trail to Everest Base Camp comprises uneven flat terrains and steep ridges. Because of longer strenuous walk hours, the rapid increase in altitude makes the walk in the Himalayas difficult.

Altitude sickness is a common problem that trekkers face throughout this trek. A thin layer of oxygen caused by the rapid steepness in altitude becomes a primary problem for many. Travelers with a good fitness level can complete the trek without any substantial issues. Thus, it is crucial to have perfect physical fitness regulated by regular exercise.

Weather and Temperature of Everest Base Camp trek and flyback by helicopter

The temperature and climatic conditions vary with the change in seasons in Nepal. Spring and autumn are the ultimate months for the Everest Base Camp trek. Because of the improved visibility and clear sky, the outing in these months is well-liked.

The days in Khumbu during summer and autumn get clear with the bright sun. The nights become chilly but are bearable. Shirts and shorts are the best wearables during the day trek. To stay warm in the chilled morning and evening, it is a must to have a down jacket and fleece.

Winter is harsh in the Himalayas as it sends cold down the spine. The winter days are shivery, and the nights are even freezing. The temperature here falls below the freezing point. The wind velocity during winter days is enough to drop the temperature. Frequent snowfalls and blizzards make the trail difficult to traverse. Thus, a winter trek to Everest Base Camp in November and December is somehow impossible.

But in January, February is ideal for winter trekking on Everest. The fresh snowfall almost to the bottom of peaks fosters the sightseeing as dreamt.

The unpredictable summer rain days obstruct the pace of the trek. The sunny day turning into a heavy rainfall within no time leaves every trekker upset. This rainfall often prompts the obstruction of visibility.
